A Charming New Dongguan

     东莞，位于广东省珠三角洲，北接广州，南连深圳，毗领香港。
东晋咸和年间立县，初名宝安，相传唐肃宗至德二年因境内盛产水草（莞草）而得名。
东莞是广东省历史文化名城。有中外闻名的林则徐销烟池、沙角炮台、威远炮台等抗英古战场遗址，也有鸦片战争博物馆、海战馆、大岭山抗日史实陈列和榴花抗日纪念亭等爱国主义教育基地；还有金鳌洲塔和榴花塔、广东四大名园之一的可园、袁崇焕故居、黄旗古庙等。东莞自然风景优美，滨海蕉林、荔红荷香、渔歌唱晚，南粤水乡风情一览无余。改革开放后，东莞城市建设日新月异，国际会展中心、虎门大桥和东莞大道等标志性建筑和基础设施展现出一座充满活力和魅力的现代城市新形象。
改革开放以来，东莞引进了20多个国家和地区的外资，形成了以电子及通讯设备制造、造纸及纸制品、食品饮料加工制造业、电力蒸汽热水生产和供应业为支柱的现代化的制造业体系。成为一个冉冉升起的国际制造业名城。

    Dongguan is situated in the Pearl Riner Delta of Guagdong province,north toGuangzhou,south to Shenzhen and neighboring to Hongkong.

    Dongguan was firstly established in the Dongjin Dynasty,named Bao An.And it was renamed as Dongguan in the Tang Dynasty because of being abundant of some kind of grass(Guan Grass).

    As a famous historic cultural city,there are many well-known ancient war field sites:Opium Destroying Pond by Linzexu,Shajiao and Weiyuan Emplacement,etc.There are also scenic spots like Jin Aozhou Pagoda,Keyuan Garden(one of the four famouse gardens in Guangdong),Former Residence of Yuan Chonghuan(one of Ming Dynasty`s generals),and Huangqi ancient temple,etc.Dongguan`s natural scenary is also quite attractive---the elegant site of the river,the rice fields,the grove of banana,the trees of litch.the fragrance of lotus,the fishing-boat and with singing,and so forth,composing of a rounded scenary of south China`s.Nowadays,Dongguan is developing at high speed,all of the marked constructions like the International Exhibition Center,the Humen Bridge,the Dongguan Avenue,etc,showing a new energetic and charming image of this morden city.

    For 20 year`s reforming and opening,Dongguan has introduced into foreign fund from more than 20 countries and areas,and has formed a manufacturing system sustained by electronic and communication`s equipment manufacturing industry,paper making and relevant priduct industry,foodstuff and beverage processing manufacturing industry,electric power,stream,hot water production,and providing industry.Dongguan is becoming a new city with the feature of international manufacturing industries.
